DOMAINE MARCEL FREYBURGER

Ammerschwihr

Christophe and Nathalie Freyburger, domaine Marcel Freyburg (Ammerschwihr)

Nathalie and Christophe Freyburger are a young couple full of energy and enthusiasm for their work as winegrowers, following in the family footsteps in the small wine-producing town of Ammerschwihr that is home to many growers. After the Second World War it was Christophe's grandfather Sébastien who rebuilt the domaine in its position by the former town hall, the ruins of which can still be seen today. The tasting room welcomes visitors year-round and during harvest time, it is used as the pressing room. Leading off from the tasting room is the winery, home to ancient vats, many of which were built by the former village cooper. Christophe and Nathalie have been farming their seven hectares of vines since 2001; their status of vignerons-récoltants means their harvest their grapes, vinify them and then sell the wine. They have thrown themselves into a new project with great enthusiasm, creating a chocolate and wine tasting experience that presents some highly individual pairings which perfectly match their personalities.
